I recently joined a group of Utah bloggers for lunch at a new restaurant by the owners of Pizzeria 712. They gave us a sampler menu of dishes (see this post on the Communal blog for examples of the scrumptious food.) And to appease the FTC, we didn’t pay for it.

My very favorite dish (surprise) was the butterscotch pot de creme (a pudding). I also loved the scallops. But I liked it all.
Why is it called Communal? Because the tables seat groups. You can sit next to anyone. Make new friends. This is eating that builds community.
The chefs Colton Soelberg and Joseph Mcrae have worked in LA, NY and Tree Room at Sundance. Their passion is to bring good food with fresh local ingredients to Utah County. They’re also ambitious — with plans to open over 20 restaurants — each with another focus.

I live in Provo and go out to eat all the time. How did I not know about this place??! This place looks delightful! I love trying new, local restaurants. I’ll leave my hubby at home for this one and take my girlfriends out for a new dining experience.
I am a big fan of their other restaurant Pizzeria 712 and can’t wait to visit Communal!
I would take my wife and parents to Communal – No one better to enjoy a new, awesome food experience with than the people you love!

I went to lunch last year for my birthday with my sisters to Pizzeria 712. I would love to enjoy this new restaurant, Communial, with my Hubby of 31 years.
My sister recently told me about this restaurant so I had to look it up. I am so into ‘good’ food and I would love to eat at Communal with all of my brothers and sisters when I am in Provo in December for my sister’s wedding.
I am longing to go to Communal. I’ve heard such amazing things about it.
I am anxious to visit Communal. I would take my husband of 51 years, my sister and her husband, and my son and his wife who all live in Orem and love to eat out.

I LOVE the foods these guys create! They take something ordinary and make it extraordinary! I will eat at every one of their restaurants.
David and I have watched Communal go up, and we’re really excited to go! We love visiting Joseph and Colton at 712 also; their food is awesome! Oh, and we would take Rigel, my new puppy, but leave him outside.

Here’s what I loved most:
heirloom tomato bread pudding – $10
braised wild boar – $15 (or it was the grilled flatiron, not sure which)
mashed potato – $5
roasted squash – $5
butterscotch creme desert with cookies – $8 (much better than you can imagine, very creamy and subtle)
That will be about $40 (serves 2).
