Q: Nicole, I’m curious what made you decide to run for city council.

I have always been interested in politics. Call me strange! I have been an election judge in Fruit Heights, am the Republican State delegate for Fruit Heights and an alternate County Delegate for Fruit Heights. I accepted the nomination to run for City Council after seeing that the no one from the Pinecone Party would run against the Mayor. I don’t have anything against the Mayor. Simply put, I enjoy being able to compare and contrast candidates in any election. Our Republic calls for two or more great candidates squaring off to decide who best represents the people.

Q: What issues are of most concern to you?
For a while now I have seen a need to have our neighborhood (Hidden Springs) represented. When I first moved into Hidden Springs there were light posts in place on Daniel Drive but none of them were illuminated. This was an issue of public safety that I thought should have easily been addressed. After eight months of visits to City Hall, multiple emails and dozens of phone calls my tenacity paid off!

Currently my concern is with the criminal activity not only within our own neighborhood but throughout the entire city. I would like to further utilize our Emergency Preparedness program by adding a neighborhood watch component. It essentially would work like our Fruit Heights Friends blog where neighbors could immediately alert each other of any problems.

In addition to having our citizens more informed I would like Davis County Sheriff’s Department to patrol our neighborhood more often. Working together we may have a chance at catching these criminals.

Q: What makes you different from the other candidates?

Honestly, all of the candidates are great people whom I respect because they are willing to step up and serve their community.  (Don Carroll, Eileen Moss and Betty Hubrich).  Why choose me?  I feel it is imperative to have a candidate from our neighborhood on the City Council.  We need representation. Furthermore I am qualified to do this job.

I am currently the Fruit Heights Republican State Delegate and alternate County Delegate.  I served in Fruit Heights as an election judge.  I have experience running profitable businesses.  I have experience advocating and fundraising for the disadvantaged in the State of Utah.  I am an effective communicator who will work hard to preserve our great city.  I am someone who tackles difficult issues and gets results.

Q: When and where can people vote?
