There is an LDS women’s retreat coming up. It will be in Rexburg, Idaho, on March 25, 26 at the new Springhill Suites Marriott Hotel. This came from Jolene Allphin who will be speaking at the event (and is wonderful).
Press Release copy:
“This retreat offers some of the same experiences as the Women’s Retreat in Nauvoo, (Ill.),” says Beverly Kingsford, Rexburg retreat director. “Those attending will see the Relief Society re-enactment just as it is performed in the Red Brick Store in Nauvoo. Nauvoo West is the only entity authorized to use that script. We also hold the Friday evening Legacy Concert, always a favorite with those who attend.”
The theme is “Women of Hope,” and the keynote speaker is Glenn Rawson, the voice of “Sounds of Sunday,” and producer and host of BYU-TV’s “The Joseph Smith Papers.” He will address having hope in the future even in these turbulent times of economic and moral decline.
Other aspects of the theme include having hope in our heritage, our faith, our children, our strength and our divine role as women. Presenters include “Heartbound” vocal trio and motivational speakers, author Jolene Allphin, artist Julie Rogers, and popular speakers Angie Davis and Shea Cook. Two speakers’ panels will cover topics from family dynamics and child-rearing to depression and physical wellness. The popular Thursday evening Chocolate Bar Pajama Party will feature the Improv Underground Comedy Troupe, door prizes and chocolate treats.
“Some of the women’s retreats are so huge, with thousands attending,” Kingsford says. “Many of those who came here last year expressed how much they enjoyed this smaller, more intimate setting.” Allison Staker of Idaho said, “I will be happy to encourage others to attend another year. I think this was terrific! I loved the relaxing atmosphere.” Anne Hoddy of Orem, Utah, added, “I feel such gratitude for such a wonderful and uplifting experience. My bucket is full! Thank you to all who donated their time and talents and spirit.”
Early registration by Feb. 10 is $49 for the full event, $59 after Feb. 10. For more information and to register, visit www.eswellnesscenter.com.
