I’m so happy it’s almost here! My favorite grocery store Harmons is opening in Farmington on Monday. I will try to get a picture snapped with Bob and Randy Harmon. We drove by and it looks amazing. The salad bar is better than any other. The deli is great (the potato logs esp.) and the bakery has artisan breads sliced to the exact thickness you desire. I look forward to taking some cooking classes too. Be sure to find them on Facebook or read their blog for more updates.

I hope this begins a new era of healthy delicious food in this area (new restaurants please!). I hear there will be a TJMaxx in the complex and a new movie theater.

Harmons will open Monday, May 2nd at 10am. But if you’re brave or an early riser you can celebrate in the parking lot starting at 6am where they will have breakfast treats and entertainment until 8am. That’s when you want to arrive and get a wrist band (see below). From 8 until 10am they will have breakfast pizza. Then at 10am the store opens and there will be product samples. So hopefully you can get a wrist band at 8 and come back at 10.

Gift Bags
From their web site: “Be one of the first people in line at 8am for your chance at a gift bag valued at more than $50. Wristbands will be handed out starting at 8am to the first 200 people in line. These lucky shoppers will receive a Go Green gift bag filled with Harmons signature items, local products, and a Harmons Gift Card. Five random bags include a $500 Harmons Gift Card. (Gift Bags will be given after a purchase through the checkstand between 10:30am – 1:00pm. One wristband per family – must be 18yrs or older.)”

Contest
They are also holding a contest and if you win you get a $100 Harmons Gift Card for every week of the year. To enter tell them about your Station Park Harmons in FIVE words. “Any FIVE words you want to use is fine, even if you invent some new ones. (We call those Bob-isms from the Bobster Dictionary.) Enter at the Station Park store before 8pm on May 7th. Daily prizes will be awarded and the six daily winning entries will be posted online for the winner to be chosen by the highest number of votes.

Directions
The store is located on the west side of I-15, directly across from Lagoon and next to the Farmington FrontRunner station. The address is 200 N. Station Parkway, but don’t use a mapping service because it won’t get you there yet

Headed North on I-15 – Exit at US-89 N (Exit #324) and then onto the Park Lane. Turn left at the top of the exit and follow back over I-15. Entrance is on the left after the Legacy Highway entrance.

Headed North on Legacy Parkway – Turn left at Park Lane and follow directions above.

Headed South on I-15 – Exit at Park Lane (Exit #325) and turn right at the top of the exit. Entrance is on the left.

Headed South on US-89 -Exit at Park Lane and turn right at the top of the exit. Entrance is across I-15 and just past the Legacy Highway entrance.

This is the only one I found:

Messiah sing-along, Davis County Symphony, Dec. 23, 7 p.m., LDS Church, 261 E. Center, North Salt Lake, free

Here are other events I found though:

Christmas Carol sing-in, Dec. 19, 7 p.m., Ogden Tabernacle, 21st Street and Washington Boulevard, Ogden, free

Christmas Carol Service, Dec. 20-21, 8 p.m.; also Dec. 24, 4 p.m., The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, free

“A Ceremony of Carols,” Dec. 22, 12:15 p.m., The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, free

Christmas Carol sing-along, Dec. 20, 7 p.m., EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple, free Note: I believe this one was started by the Miller family. I went last year and it seemed like most people talked and didn’t sing – but we sat way up (may have been better up close). They have the words on a big screen so you can follow along.

This year the Sundance Film Festival will be showing more movies in Ogden than usual. They shows will be at Peery’s Egyptian Theater on Washington Ave. Cost is $15 a show and $10 with a military ID. If you don’t want to worry about parking or crowds, this is a great way to watch a film. Not sure if the director’s come and speak at these – that’s always my favorite part.

Here’s a listing of the Ogden showings of the Sundance Film Festival. Tickets go on sale on January 8th at 8am at the theater.
